Sometimes things don’t go as planned!
SOMETIMES THINGS DON’T GO AS PLANNED. It’s easy to come on here talk about our successes, store openings, new brand contracts, speaker engagements etc…. It’s very hard to come on here and talk about things not going as planned, store closings, lost brand contracts etc. Here’s the story behind this pic and this post. #tbt to 4 years ago, this is us in a hotel room on the eve of the GG Sudbury grand opening. One of our proudest moments in GG history. We were opening our furthest northern Ontario location. We managed to figure it all out logistics inventory delivery, build out etc, training etc. If we could do this we could build locations in other provinces & cities too that were further away from the GTA. The owner of this location put her all in this location, and when we say ALL we mean ALL. Until a few years in, business didn’t go as planned, increase in minimum wage, local strikes in town, pricing increase on supplies, increase in rent etc . Sometimes you can do everything to make your business succeed but if there is something going on outside of your control, you really have to know when to re-evaluate your business and see if you are able to go on. It’s NOT FAILURE, it’s NOT CLOSURE, it’s nothing to be ASHAMED of. It’s making a decision so you can grow in other ways. So this passed May the GG Sudbury franchise closed with the thought to downsize and open a smaller location with lower rent. We are still on the hunt for that to happen. In the meantime wanted to share this story with you to remind things don’t always go as planned, your story will change, your business will change and that’s OK. It’s all part of the journey. Remember you can’t control everything, but you can control how you react when things don’t go as planned.
